Getting one girl’s number
If you collect one girl's number on your first day at university, people think you're weird. Collect a hundred and suddenly it's networking.
Content works the same way. Copy one person and it's plagiarism. Copy a hundred and it starts to look like art.
Steve Jobs borrowed from Xerox PARC and from Zen Buddhism. Picasso spent years studying African masks and Iberian sculpture before he painted Les Demoiselles d'Avignon. Neither of them came out of nowhere. They just had so many influences that nobody could trace their work back to one source.
This is where most people get it wrong. You see a creator blowing up and assume the move is to replicate what they put out. Same format, same editing style, same offer.
Stealing like an artist was always about borrowing principles instead of outputs. You take the hook from one creator, the business model from a founder, the psychology from a book and the positioning from a luxury brand. Then you run all of it through the advantages only you have.
Call it pattern recognition.
A beginner studies examples. An expert studies patterns.
Thinking outside the box was never the goal. The goal was to collect boxes nobody else thought to combine.
