When to negotiate licensing fee? : socialmedia

A brand with a verified 100k follower Instagram account asked to use a photo of mine in their marketing (emails, website, and Instagram) for credit. This is pretty broad commercial usage. While they’re a smaller business and it’d be some good exposure for my account (4.5k), the photo is a full-body photo of myself wearing an accessory of theirs, not a close-up product photo (so use of my likeness), and broad commercial usage like that doesn’t feel like something I should give away for free–especially because I don’t want to contribute to a standard that prevents other content creators from getting paid.

Should I give them permission to use my image for credit, or attempt to negotiate licensing? Will bringing up payment likely make them totally rescind the request? Is it even worth letting them use my photo for free if they’d say “never mind” as soon as I ask for compensation?
