  • Why is my engagement on Instagram plummeting?

Posted by Constant_Tune_1002 on June 15, 2023 at 9:45 pm

Recently, I shared a reel on Instagram – a collaboration between my account (2K followers) and another (1K followers). Shockingly, it barely got any likes despite my use of relevant hashtags, geotag, and tagging the song. The strange thing is that my skateboard sponsor (who has 20k followers) reposted it, and it also failed to attract attention. My engagement boosting strategies seem to be failing.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

Instagram is dying. A friend of mine with 90k followers has seen a major dip in engagement from about last year. Zuckerfuck is messing with microinfluencers again.

The Zuck is pushing business page owners to buy ads, boost posts, do this do that ad infinitum. Feeds are full of crap IG AI wants you to see instead of what you want featured.

I’ve noticed this too, must have been an algorithm change but yeah my engagement is tanking on multiple accounts. I feel video is dead on Insta, we’ve still had some success with carousel posts but that’s it.

I have a popular rock n roll band. In 2020 – 2021 our posts got 1500-2000 likes on average. We’re lucky if we get 400 now even though by every other measure we’re a larger band that sells more tickets at shows.

IG and Facebook throttled everything down hard. Sucks. Everything I see in my feed is just random dog videos of stuff I’ve seen over and over. I personally hate it.

I feel like IG is dead but at the same time people are either blowing up & gaining a ton of followers or staying in the exact same spot with no engagement

IG is really pushing it. Some of the top ranked in my niche like over 90k followers that used to get over 1000 likes now gets less than me , 4k followers with average 300 to 400 likes.
Hashtags also don’t work at all on certain posts.

Lately on average Instagram shows my posts to less than 20% of my followers, and even less than that outside my followers. Just straight up not being seen by anyone.

I’ve always hated Instagram, but it’s becoming intolerable as of late. What others are saying adds up to what I’ve experienced and read elsewhere. IG is trying to bring in more ad revenue by making ads the only viable way to gain visibility. That’s pushing out a lot of the more organic content and filling feeds with garbage. Very frustrating.

Yeah! I used to get 500-1000 likes and now I’m lucky if i get 100! Same with stories…even tried recycling the exact same content and it got way lower engagement. I have 15k followers on IG. I get more likes on TikTok with less than 100 followers.

How do you guys feel about VERO? I feel like it’s untapped and basically IG before all the bullshit. Better quality app too.

They have just got rid of ‘recent hashtags’ and now only show ‘top’ hashtags or ‘recent’ top hashtags instead. Which is hurting everyone apart form the big pages!

You don’t overuse your hashtags. Hashtags have always been an essential part of Instagram’s growth. However, when done incorrectly, they can be harmful. Using too many hashtags may signal to Instagram that your account is a spam. It will result in reduced reach.

I haven’t posted in months, and only started posting again in the lats few days. Reach is still as crap as when I stopped posting.

Reach and growth was dying and guess it’s still that way.
