????????‍♀️ I’m a strategic digital comms human, so these last few weeks have been bonkers tbh.

Trying to explain what’s happening on Twitter, then how all the newer platforms work takes a lot of effort not to come across completely doolally.

I think I’m too much of a boomer to use this app. Search is only bringing up accounts. How can I search for actual posts? Or is it just me? Also, no hashtags? What’s the replacement?

I cannot understand the real reason like why should i leave twitter and use threads?

There is nothing new in it and threads is in a beginning stage so it is a time waste as of now!

Feels pretty intimate, I think for personal accounts this is an opportunity to just simply share whatever you want, showerthoughts and all. There’s no “gaming” the system for more reach right now. Like the name suggests, it is about inviting conversations. As someone that manages the SM account for a nonprofit, I’m hoping to test a more conversational voice with our brand. First week will be interesting to see how the trends form and what formats professional organizations are coming up with. No DMs, no hashtags. Searching for topics and the virality of how the algorithm works is unclear or under construction.

Does this platform have legs? I think it does. In any case the competition is good for us as users.

I get really bad RSI flare ups so non-desktop platforms are a no go for me. I’m hoping this gets onto Meta BS like Insta

Is anyone aware if we’ll be able to access it via desktop at some point?

Isn’t the federated social media just going to turn into like reddit where power mods decide everything?

To me threads still leave more to be desired, personally trends is what takes me to twitter, so until then.
I’m still good with twitter ????

I think it’s a platform for personalities and groups of personalities.

Taking learnings from Facebook groups I think more than anything threads is a reddit killer. More than a Twitter killer.

About 5 years ago Facebook did a marketing push for its groups pages which depending on your view, flopped.

I think from there meta was formed because zuk started to see that brand identities had lifecycles.

Instagram and Facebook are at the end of their brand identity. If not Facebook has become a Frankenstein monster of it’s former self. And Instagram is hanging in there.

Twitter under that lens has been capped for decades and the only thing novel about any of these platforms are all the new or engaged users that have come from the pandemic.

The pandemic was the black swan event that forced millions more people online. I think that’s one of the better things about the pandemic that people have often discounted.

I think as threads matures watch the same way that Instagram and Facebook have matured we’re going to see it live up to its namesake to compete mainly with Reddit.

Threads of conversations within veins of whatever analogous subreddit is in the platform.

No matter what happens threads will definitely try to aggregate people. We’ve seen the evolutions of this in facebook and in Instagram.

Where Reddit gets clunky is when it comes to a shared knowledge repository or a better way to manage group think.

I think threads is going to cater to that weakness aided by AI. After all how else would you train hyper specific LLM’s unless you build custom knowledge bases from your audience.

I’m hopeful that my theory will be confirmed in the next few months. Threads is more of a Reddit killer than it is a Twitter killer.

it’s a copy cat and I am not sure why the market is encouraging this behavior

I like it so far. I know there are many things they need to fix and features they need to add, but I totally get why they rushed it out especially after Elon capped how many tweets you could view. They were striking while the iron was hot. I’m hoping they get a desktop version soon and that there will be an easier way to toggle between accounts. There’s a lot they need to work on but I think this is finally the Twitter alternative we’ve been waiting for.

I was completely open the the idea and tried the app out but quickly realized that Meta has way too much censorship. The algorithm is just as messed up as instagram, and it’s going to turn into a platform just for influencers to take over. Honestly hope Elon wins the copy infringement lawsuit.
