I think I’ll give it a try, since I gave up on Twitter in 2011 ????

All the same fundamental problems that will exist with any for-profit social media network. That’s why I’m working on a non-profit one. I’m tired of seeing platforms ruined by the unnecessary pursuit of infinite growth and monetization.

Only time will tell if this is going to be a bop. Personally, I like it, TW has been a living hell since Elon took it.

I’m waiting for it, to be honest. There I would to make a more interesting feed than Twitter.

I’m wondering about growth strategies, since it’s so new and we don’t yet have a hashtag, search, trend feature.

We haven’t yet made the move at the company for which I work, but I’ve done it on my personal and passion project accounts and I really like the format. I’ve not been excited about Twitter for like a decade, but this looks a little fresh.

I’m a software engineer by trade. Threads is bare bones at best. I’m blown away this was released by a giant tech company. It has next to no features, it’s essentially useless.

I’m not sure if it’s just me, but based on my brief experience with this thread, it felt somewhat blunt. My main concern is that it’s not easy to differentiate where one thread starts and ends. Here are a few points I noticed:

    1. Unlike Twitter, where you have to open a tweet to read replies, here on threads all the replies are displayed together, which makes it difficult to distinguish new threads from replies. It feels similar to scrolling through Instagram or Reddit’s comment section.
    2. There are no colors or themes, which is fine, I suppose, since Twitter has a similar appearance. However, Twitter incorporates some blue here and there, which makes it a bit more appealing.
    3. Even though I joined from instagram, the algorithm on threads are significantly lagging. If it is a new raw account, I understand, but come on you have all my data from instagram usage, you can do better.

Overall, I believe there are areas where this thread experience could be enhanced for better clarity and visual distinction between threads and replies.

I’m fine with it not being feature complete. I actually think minimal viable product is something that’s done wrong a lot in software these days. What bugs me to no end is them forcing a link to my private instagram right on my threads page.

I’m really glad that I see random shit posts on threads. This is totally why I downloaded it. I think my favorite part is that amount of clever one liners that litters my feed. It’s just so perfect…

Could be great, I like the sleak UI but the app definitely needs work (feels like it’s unfinished and like they rushed putting the app out)

Things I’d like them to add (would be shocked if they don’t come eventually) private messaging/DMS, I don’t mind the FYP style feed but they need to add an option so I can see only the people i’m following, a search option so I can search for specific things people are doing posts about
