So hard to find trustworthy SEO Expert
I published my website few months ago. My knowledge with SEO skyrocketed but I would not claim to be an expert. I understand how it’s done, but it’s crazy amount of work. It is extremely hard to find someone who is trustworthy.

I hired multiple agents and I keep firing them.
1- One guy did crappy on Page SEO, I had to go and modify it page by page. If I’m not on top of it, quality work would be crappy.
2- Another guy, was hired to do backlink building, took a lot of money, and all links were worthless directory listing and now I have thousands of meaningless link from less than 100 domains.
3- Another guy , was hired to write SEO optimized content, his writing felt like AI wrote this crap.

It feels like a scam to be SEO agent at this point. People selling hope to be ranked after a year, crappy work that leads no where, but money is gone.

Anyways, HOW DO I FIND A GOOD AGENCY FOR SEO ?

As you mentioned because it’s a crazy amount of work it is expensive. Good link building can cost $300 USD per link you acquire, a lot of people don’t want to hear that.

What type of SEO results are you looking to achieve?
Is this a local business (Local SEO)?
Or, is it state-wide, regional, national, international, or global SEO (Organic SEO)?
Don’t mean to sound a little off, but there’s no way you could possibly ‘know how SEO is done’, after just a few months.
Also, it does seem a little strange you felt it necessary to go over an SEO’s work, page-by-page with your little knowledge of SEO. Not saying you don’t know how SEO works, just finding it hard to believe, and it does sound like more of a trust issue.
Did your SEO agents in the past set your expectations accordingly?
Local SEO can produce results in a month or two, organic results vary greatly, depending on the market, niche, etc.
Did they use the correct strategies for the correct results?
Some strategies produce short term results, others are medium to long term, and depend on the market / niche you’re involved in.
Hard to know what’s possible without knowing more.

If you know enough about on page SEO why are you paying someone? Is it possible the on page was good and it went against your creative rules?
Second guy, ask more questions. sounds like you wanted someone who could provide relevant links of a high pr *cough* – did you specify this?
Was the writing not in your preferred style? Good SEO blog posts have a particular style and structure. With you saying you thought it was AI, was it written poorly or was the content not specific to your niche?

Question them how they’re going to help you drive traffic.
And if they can guarantee the results and how long would it take (the answer is there’s no guarantee and seo is a long game).

If you looking for an in-house SEO, at minimum, 120k a year. And thats just salary

On a curious note, where were they located and what was agreed upon?

Seems like choose SEO persons from fiverr or any similar portal? There people are offering very attractive price for no work or garbage work. You should ask him for his website, portfolio etc. before hire them. I agree that if you are not carefull then in by name of SEO experts nowadays many scammers doing his business.

Find someone that ranks on the first page for a specific keyword that’s high difficulty to rank for.
That’s proof. Then have them show you another site that they ranked. That’s a good starting place.

So you had a bad experience with 3 people, now every professional who works in SEO is a scam? There is usually more to the story….

I know for many of people here can seem crazy but I think the best thing is work and get paid at the result and then if the guy hits the result, you can hire him. I think you can select better who you want to hire and if the other part is really sure to bring you result shouldn’t have problem to accept your offer.

From reading what you’ve written here,
You definitely think you are better at SEO than the people whom you had hired.
For better understanding, could you explain what the “crappy on page SEO” work that was done on your website?
