YouTube Campaign Type “Efficient Reach” Targeting

Posted by tired-ppc-throwaway on September 15, 2023 at 11:04 am

    Hi all,

Currently auditing an account and I’ve come across a YouTube campaign (Reach campaign – Type “Efficient Reach”). However, there are no target groups set for the targeting, instead there are keywords in the campaign. How does the targeting work in this case? Does this mean someone only see my video ad when they enter a specific query into the Youtube or Google search bar? (YouTube search terms report is empty). Can anyone give me some more information on how this works?

If anyone has experience with this kind of strategy I’d be super interested to get some more information on what the aim is and why it is better than targeting target groups.

FYI: the campaign has bombed, but I suspect that has to do with the creatives more than the targeting.

    TIA

Keywords work as an audience match. Targeting people who have searched those keywords or similar ones or have interests that align with people who do. Have seen a lot of success using them as custom segments on display. They use the same targeting as Broadmatch would. They will ignore match types.
