Will this multi-site linkage plan hurt or help my main site’s ranking?
I am building several web sites, and I plan to use these to funnel traffic to a main web site. I also plan to use these web sites to make the main site rank higher.
Here is a diagram of the plan: http://chadjohnson.io/static/plan.jpg. The links I am concerned about are highlighted in yellow.
The Most Important Site at the bottom is where I ultimately want to funnel traffic, and I hope to also increase its search engine ranking via the other sites using the linkage shown in the diagram.
I plan to do three-way link exchanges with other sites such that I will link to them from one of my lesser important sites, and then they will link to the Second Most Important Site. The Second Most Important Site will subsequently link to the Most Important Site.
**Here is my concern:** In addition to having third-party sites link to the Second Most Important Site, I plan to also link to the Second Most Important Site from each of the lesser important sites with followable links. So, BOTH the third-party sites AND the lesser important sites will link to the Second Most Important Site. Additionally, I’d like to also add nofollow links on the lesser important sites to the Most Important Site (and maybe nofollow is unnecessary?).
Do you guys see any issues with this strategy? Is there any reason Google or other engines would penalize any of these sites (especially the two most important sites)?
