Why is the Developer/Software Engineer in charge of SEO at most companies?
Why isn’t it the other way around? I’ve been in situations where engineers were in charge and their “solutions” were harmful to SEO more often than not. And there isn’t a whole hell of a lot the SEO can do because of the organizational structure. And because the software engineer disagrees with the SEO, many tasks get put on the back burner, because the SEO has no clout.
And, most nobody seems to care when the SEO brings something up. I’ve learned to work with this and pick my battles strategically and politically. But, it seems to me that the SEO/SEO Director should be fully in charge of all website tasks, rather than the software engineer/developer.
