Why am I getting overseas traffic?
So the website for my company has multiple sites dedicated to the country where our offices are. The sites are distinguished by the country and language in the URL (en-gb). You can navigate through different sites through the menu. However, when I analyse the traffic for Q1, a third of new users from my site are from the US (en-us).
Supposedly we have a geo tag on the website, but something isn’t right here.
What is the problem with my website?

I am not an expert but: Isn’t per rule of thumb bot-traffic 2/3rds of total traffic anyways? Isn’t that an explanation? Which tools do you use for analysis?

Nearly if not all Google bots are from the US. There may be some instances that they don’t, but that would be rare.
You should be able to configure your analytics to not track known bots to help keep that traffic out of your data – though I’d make sure to keep an eye on your server logs.
