Which platform should I run ads on?

Posted by Pretzelman1234 on May 1, 2023 at 10:59 pm

I sell women’s jewelry online (prices are around $100ish and target customer is a Millenial but that’s just a guess). I’m on TikTok, and do YouTube Shorts and Reels. So far, I’ve barely built up a following (IG is the worst with only 5 followers but usually 500-1,000 views per Reel) and I haven’t gotten any sales from it. TikTok and YT Shorts seems to be a lot of young kids who probably don’t have their own money.

I’m just starting….Where should I spend my marketing money? Also what kind of ads should I run for sales?

I’m thinking of hiring a UGC creator and doing paid ads for TikTok but someone mentioned that UGC is more for brand awareness and it’s also hard to get people off the app. Google is another option, maybe it’s good for my price point? Meta…would it be a waste of money running ads when I only have 5 followers? Are people even on IG anymore? haha Thanks!

Lots of options but since you’re into jewelry I’d first focus on platforms that are native to media content so that’s mostly Instagram and TikTok in addition to a little bit of Facebook if millennials are considered.

Now when it comes to advertising, each platform has its own little caveat but you won’t know what works unless you test it out. So I’d consider testing out different platforms some small budgets that you’re okay to lose (while making sure it’s not too small that the test itself is insignificant) and you should have your answer.

About the thought on UGC, it’s good but probably not right now unless you plan on using it on your ads which if they’re from people who have good following and relevant to your product can work out but I wouldn’t pay too much mind to it yet.

As for the no. of followers, it doesn’t really matter if you’re running ads.
