Sometimes, i face with ad banners when i surf on the internet. Ad banners are appearing suddenly in front of the screen and when i want to close it , i accidently click the ad. So it was 336×280 for example

Do you have any other ideas&experiences on Display ad banners in G-Ads? I just want to understand which banner size is the best

In my experience, Responsive Display Ads actually perform better than static in the vast majority of our campaigns, across various industry verticals. We still do use static display for certain companies, but responsive seems to be the way to go as far as a cost/performance perspective.

Accidental clicks are always a problem. That is why we try to exclude app placements, and we keep a rolling list of children’s apps (which are the most often mis-clicked among all placements!)

There is no “best” image size. Your success doesn’t depend on which size you use, it depends on the message in your ad.

You should also consider the sites you are targeting. Most will display one or two sizes and it will also depend on whether someone is using a desktop or mobile device. You need to cover all possibilities. For instance, 728×90 has always been a favorite size for desktops and 300×250 as well. But not all sites choose to display them. Some prefer the skyscraper sizes, others the square and rectangle ones. There is of course a few mobile-specific sizes and don’t forget plain text which will be displayed to fit inside whatever size a site chooses.

Whatever size you use, it doesn’t prevent accidental clicks, especially on small screens of mobile devices. I don’t know how big this problem is however. I currently run a new campaign on display using images. One group shows 97% of impressions were on desktops, which I suspected would happen given the vertical. A text group shows the same number of clicks but 3.5x less impressions on mobile, so there may be some accidental clicking there or they simply liked the message. The tablets have less impressions but the CTR is through the roof so it appears the message is very good but more data is needed, including data by device and placements.

Responsive, but in general display ads have been major dookie not worth the headache unless you can spin “It’s for branding purposes” and sell your client impressions that hopefully lift organic search increases. I’d rather spend the money on search or social, or social awareness, before I spend on Google Display. They take way too much micro-management and time to try and make profitable… I can’t remember I had one actually break even on ad spend let alone cost of product included.

Display network is all bot traffic in my experience. Are you measuring conversions? If yes, beyond just a form fill?

If you’re actually ROI positive I’d love to hear what you’re doing, but most advertisers just go “OMG so many impressions! Hooray!” As they set money on fire.

    Good luck!
