  • Which ad rotation setting to do you use in your ad groups?

Posted by seohelper on March 7, 2020 at 12:17 am

I’m a dummy and have been struggling to ‘optimize’ my google ads because n is just too low for some ads (I usually make 4 per ad group). After a quick search I discovered ad rotation settings (yeah I get it, it’s a basic setting).

My data is not useful because when I sort by CTR many of my ‘top performing’ ads have a very low # of clicks & impressions- lacking any statistical significance. So now I have switched to ‘Rotate Indefinitely’ so I can actually collect data.

**Shouldn’t it start on a rotate then switch to ‘Optimize’ after it has data to work with?**

I have always used rotate indefinitely. Of course, that doesn’t actually “work” anymore, so you still have to manually test.

The optimize setting will take into account any newly-launched ads and give them impressions. This also means that a brand new ad group with all new ads will see all ads served semi-equally the first few days.
