Interested to hear if you mostly go direct to the source or do you use backlink marketplaces?

Best source is to hire someone for creating back links, but first discuss the quality of links, and check work also.

Making quality material that people link to without being asked is the best strategy for links IMO.

Buying backlinks off a vendor is usually either expensive or low quality.
Best bet is to either do your own personalized outreach, or hire a freelancer / agency to do it for you.
Otherwise, you can also try HARO, Terkel, or other similar journo pitching tools.

Do not buy links! It is better to exchange them. Get in touch with other website owners that are the same topic as yours, and politely ask for an exchange. You can write a little blog post, insert your link and publish it in the other person’s website, and you can allow someone else do the same in yours.

Or, try it their way. Produce some really good content and see how many backlinks you get. TLDR; you’ll get none.
Here’s the problem with buying backlinks. You need an extremely reliable source and need a solid budget. You can’t find trustworthy sources without being part of the industry for several years. You have to develop a reputation as a competent, trustworthy individual yourself first.
Think of it this way: can I walk into a drug lord’s compound and buy the best cocaine? Of course not. They don’t know me. It’s the exact same thing. Really good backlink sellers don’t do business with just anyone. He won’t see them selling on the street or on Fiverr—they have a reputation with their clients and don’t want to dilute the industry.
