What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to creating social media graphics for you or your client’s business?

That they have seen so much bad brand content – advertising tiles, etc. – that they don’t understand there are more effective ways to win on social.

Put the logo on everything

Insisting on putting too much text on a graphic. Good design is simple and eye-catching, not filled to the brim with text

“Use this photo for all sizes and formats pls”
*emails a 16:9 image needing the entire frame to make sense* -
My boss insists on using clip art. She insists that it catches people’s attention.

This applies to more than social media but clients who still insist on having the full url of their site i.e., “[http://www.reddit.com”](http://www.reddit.com”) , because they think customers won’t know what to type into a browser (or know that the browser won’t take them there anyway if they just type “reddit.com”)

Just a general lack of awareness about paid social media best practice. ONE clear message, nobody reads the post copy, first 3 seconds of view matter 1000% than anything than anything else, etc etc.

That they hire me to do the work, then want 100% say in every post then when I give them full reign to directing posts, nothing gets done and then ask me to take over again. It’s a cycle I haven’t figured out how to break for most new clients. There’s always an awkward period before they can fully trust that they don’t know best practices.

When they want 60 different types of graphics for the same message.. lol.

Overproducing assets. Stuff that is shot on an iphone is actually going to be better 90% of the time because its going to look native. If its too glossy people know its an ad and bounce. Drives me nuts.
