A really honest discussion about how all of these platforms operate needs to occur. Startups are being crushed and financially fleeced in terms of creating a presence from scratch on social media. Big business has profit that helps them to stay on top. There is also a lot of gaming going on that makes shady business look legit.

I think the quest for platform profit is greatly outweighing the real benefits that social media platforms provided/promised originally.

Perhaps we might have to just go back to the personal web site economy if nothing changes, or maybe there should just be a flat cost for using platforms like Facebook, IG, Twitter, TikTok etc…

Boosting isn’t to reach your followers, it’s to reach new people.

From a business stand point, I agree.

From a users view, Facebooks change to show more group and friend content is obviously good in regards of their vision to connect people more with people instead of brands.

A lot of brands also don´t do “social media”. They do advertising. It´s spammy. It´s not high quality and therefore makes people leave their platform faster which in return makes the platform less money.

The evolution of business on social has changed a bunch. There’s an old saying, marketers ruin everything. This is the case here.

There was a day when you could build your followers and your message would land in their feed. And then marketers started stuffing feeds with low-quality sales pitches. The platforms nixed that and pushed a pay-to-play model.

That said, there are many ways to get your message in front of your actual followers for free (depending on the platform). In short, use the platforms how they are intended to be used. Don’t simply ask people to buy from you. Create content that matches the platform and entertain, educate and/or inform to build a connection. With exception to Facebook, this will get your post in front of eyeballs for free. Well, it will work on Facebook but not enough to be worth it.

When you use the platforms properly and when you use their ad platforms in the right way it is not very expensive to see fantastic results.

If you’re only interested in asking someone to buy from you and don’t have the ability or ambition to create value-packed content, then stick to Google Ads. They are for people who are in-market now. People on social platforms are not there to be sold. They are there to be entertained. If you can entertain and tie it to your offers you will see the value.

This may come as a surprise for some, but social media is for . . . socializing. Businesses have always been asked to pay for advertising. You aren’t entitled to it.

Big businesses have also always had the advantage over the small businesses. Law of the jungle. You can complain and blame Facebook for it, or you can get to work.

It’s a scam, the restricting of account and action blocks is also a cover up as they are not paying for ads to get reach! I don’t see the point of the app anymore as I shouldn’t have to pay for my fiends to see my posts!

You sound really naive. They’re working as intended. Every medium reaches a saturation point.
