attempt 2 at this post…removing the link; I think that’s why it was blocked.

I have a side business where we (typically) fix up properties to flip or as rentals. I have a basic wordpress site I made.

I want to be at the top of organic search in my local market, for some niche keywords but maybe the general keywords too (“sell my house” for instance).

Before I go spending hours learning SEO, or $$ to pay someone to do something, how do I get a sense of what’s possible, and what investment in terms of $$, time, timeline, it would take to achieve that? That way I can make a good decision on if the investment is worth the potential returns.

Any advice or recommended readings here?

The answer to the first part of your question, “…what’s possible”, is increased traffic (which hopefully convert to customers), but without an audit or consultation with an SEO professional no one is going to be able to answer the rest of your questions as there are too many variables to consider. How many competitors do you have? How big is your target market? What’s the current state of your online presence? etc etc. It could take several months to a year to start seeing results.

So my advice would be, find an SEO professional you can talk with for an hour or so, and hopefully, you’ll come out of that conversation with a better understanding of whether or not an investment in SEO is worth it for you.

The truth is, it takes resourcefulness, dedication, persistence, & creativity. This is especially true because of the constantly changing nature of Google’s algorithm. Google executives like Gary Illyes and John Mueller confirm Google constantly changes its algorithm, even though most of these changes aren’t publicly announced.

Your goal to be at the top of the SERP is unrealistic. Search results are not static and depend on many variables, e.g., the user’s location, the size of the info input display, the queries of the current session, and so on. For a business, a more realistic goal is to increase the traffic of target users, which are mostly converted into customers, that is, to increase sales from the online visibility of the business and the products you offer. The search phrase Sell my house is too generic and, if fully optimized, can bring tons of traffic to your website without wasted traffic with zero conversions.

The price and the time depends on many details that create the required amount of work and can range between 500 and 10,000 euros.

SEO is a slow-moving process where you build links, optimize sites technically, add quality content, increase domain authority and many more. You can follow the below process to do it the right way:

    > SEO auditing: Before starting with SEO you should be aware of what is wrong and what can be made better. So in auditing find out how many backlinks are there, if your site is mobile-friendly, what’s the site opening speed etc.

    > Action plan: Use analysis of the SEO audit report to figure out what activities are required to perform the SEO.

    > Technical SEO: You should also make sure that your website can run smoothly on whatever platform you are using because if the interface is not working properly or isn’t user friendly then other actions may not be effective.

    > Keyword analysis: You also need to understand what your target audience is searching for while looking for your services.

Further, determine the goals you are hoping to achieve with a proper timeline. For example, if you want to be on the top of search engine ranking, then how many keywords you are hoping to rank on in a month. After that identify which keywords are they, cause the most used keywords are also the ones with more competition so it may take some time to rank on quality keywords.
