  • what to do about client’s lost facebook account/no access to business profiles/what would you do?

Context: this is a client that wants me to manage his social media, but i can’t access his facebook business profiles.

On facebook, if you can no longer access the personal account that is linked to your business profile, what steps can you take to either recover it or close it down, so we can start a new one without duplicating? (ideally would like to recover it though.)

a client of mine has an old facebook profile he lost access to and can’t recover, he has tried all the usual routes, the problem is his business profiles are associated with that profile. both his personal and business accounts are still on facebook but nobody can access them.

he has since started a new facebook profile but if we recreate the business profiles then we will duplicate them. i need to regain access or get the old ones removed somehow.

what would you do in this situation?

    thanks!

This is a worse case scenario I’m always worried about, especially with scammers getting more creative with making Facebook pages with icons/profile pictures that make them look like “official”Facebook alerts at first glance. Considering it can take months or even a year+ for Facebook to return stolen accounts, I wouldn’t expect to be able to retrieve/access their account any time soon, or ever.
They may need to consider making a new Facebook account all together and start over and perhaps have the page verified and explain to customers/clients that this is the new official page.
Im going to follow this post for updates and other advice given.
And now I’m also wondering if I should make a separate post with the screenshots about the latest fraud attempt as I had described above

Losing access to a Facebook account or business profile can be a challenging situation. Here are some steps you can take to address the issue:

Contact Facebook Support: Start by reaching out to Facebook’s support team. They have resources and processes in place to help users regain access to their accounts or business profiles. Visit the Facebook Help Center and follow the instructions for reporting an issue or recovering an account. Provide as much relevant information as possible to assist them in verifying your ownership.

Provide Proof of Ownership: Facebook may require you to provide proof of ownership to verify your identity and ownership of the account or business profile. Be prepared to provide any supporting documents or evidence, such as business registration documents, invoices, or other relevant information that confirms your association with the account or profile.

Collaborate with a Facebook Marketing Partner: If you have been working with a Facebook Marketing Partner or have access to any agency support, they might be able to assist you in resolving the issue. They can liaise with Facebook on your behalf and provide guidance on the steps to take.

Check for Hacked or Unauthorized Access: If you suspect that your account or business profile was hacked or accessed without authorization, it’s important to take immediate action. Change your passwords for both the Facebook account and associated email address. Enable two-factor authentication for added security. Report any suspicious activity to Facebook and follow their recommended steps for account recovery.

Communicate with Clients and Stakeholders: If you’re managing client accounts or business profiles on behalf of others, it’s crucial to keep them informed about the situation. Explain the issue and reassure them that you are taking steps to resolve it. Maintain open lines of communication and provide updates on the progress of recovering the account or profile.

Remember, each situation may be unique, and Facebook’s specific processes and support may vary. It’s essential to follow their guidelines, provide accurate information, and be patient throughout the recovery process.
