What is the best way to A/B test Lead Forms? (ugly lead form inside)

Posted by ellosee on January 18, 2023 at 7:49 pm

The current Lead form /Get a Quote Form i’m working on is for catering. Problem is i[t has 16 Fields. (6 are required)](https://imgur.com/a/on7TJWq)

Not a CRO expert but that sounds like WAY too many.
What tool can I use to A/B test this lead form ? I haven’t done a/b testing before but i need to get some data to prove shorter is probably better before I’m allowed to make changes.

    Thanks!!

To me, if it’s optional, then it doesn’t need to be there. (Actually, that’s literally the case by definition). Just bin all of the optionals off for like a week and see what happens to conversion rate. Surely they can agree to a 1 week test?

Google Optimize. You can create an A/B test and within the tool remove the optional fields for your variant. If you can’t do that within the tool for whatever reason, then you could duplicate the lead form page and have your shorter lead form on the duplicate, then set it up as a Redirect test instead of an A/B test.

It will connect to Google Analytics so you can set lead form submissions as your primary test objective and get data on submissions and conversion rate (assuming you have that conversion goal configured in Google Analytics).
