GuestApril 21, 2024 at 8:53 pmMorality and common sense especially from Instagram/ Meta. They censor content from many outdoor companies, pocket knife company’s, law enforcement, military because the content gets flagged by its own algorithm as inappropriate but yet any girl showing a little skin is allowed. The point made in Florida when Zuckerberg was asked about child abuse hashtags on instagram and meta allowing people to look such vile information up is proof of the hypocrisy.

GuestApril 21, 2024 at 8:56 pmA website, app that just shows the content to your friends on a feed like Myspace would originally do. You can have a universal feed too, but it should be optional. Some people just want to connect with their friends.

For example, I really enjoy that Reddit has specific spaces for fandoms/interests. Sure other platforms have groups & hashtags, but it’s so disorganized and hard to connect with like minded people.
I feel like the main thing that’s missing is that sense of community/the ability to easily hop into a stream of consciousness where everyone is on the same page.
The only other place I can think of that does this is Discord, but they often have the same issues that forums had where eventually they die out for get spammy.

GuestApril 22, 2024 at 3:21 ammyspace although somewhat amateurish allowed everyone to express their individuality posting unique backgrounds, music playlists, and complete user interface customization. yahoo messenger had chat rooms and games. a huge variety of fun chat rooms consisting of karaoke, chatterbox, computer geeks, countries, hometown cities, etc. a much later version had live radio which would update every few minutes the song being played.

GuestApril 22, 2024 at 5:05 amConsistency. The ever changing algorithm and app layout/ features is annoying. I’ve taken a huge break from the other apps (was a big TikTok user) because I’m over all the overstimulating stuff too.
I want a semi entertaining app I can shut off whatever I want. Like a reality tv show that is still good, but that I don’t feel the need to binge watch the whole season in one day.

GuestApril 22, 2024 at 10:54 amFor me personally, social media has completely lost its original meaning because it’s no longer a place where you can connect with your high school friends, keep up with your celebrity interests, or track the interests of your relatives. I was so surprised when Instagram removed the ability to track likes and followers a few years ago. Wasn’t social media invented to keep up with your follower’s updates without having to directly contact them? Now Instagram is just a collection of random photos of people you don’t even know and the same Reels that get hit day in and day out. I stopped using the Instagram app altogether and bought a subscription to the Snoopreport activity tracker. It allows you to get information about likes, hashtags and followers of Instagram users you are interested in. And I know many other users who have also abandoned or deleted their accounts and are using the web version without authorization or similar apps.
