  • What can you do about a competitor site that uses masses of stolen photos

I have a site in a niche which requires lots of photos of places. Sometimes it is really hard to find the required photos on any stock site, or free site. So I was a little surprised when a site in the same niche had like 5 or 10 photos of each of these thousands of places.

After a little digging I found a few of my own photos in there, so I DMCA’d them.

However, the site still ranks for thousands of other places which I can’t DMCA as I am not the rights holder.

Another issue with this site is how they produce so much content. I’m sure much of it is too old to have been AI generated. OK, it’s quite badly written but it is reasonably accurate and in like 20 languages. Bear in mind this is not a very lucrative niche…

Do you know who owns the pictures? You may need to team up.

Using licensed photos without authors agreement is illegal, so go from that. There is tools to search for image source, there even can be info about license or author inside img metadata. So trace back original owner and contact them with list of images.

You also should check if all those images not under cc0 license on some stock photo website
