Would like to know how to vet out employers in an interview to ensure they’re the right fit for me.

What types of snacks do you have stocked most frequently in your mini-kitchens and why?

Off the top of the head. Is the company profitable? What is your current adspend? How are reviews of your product/service? What type of seasonality does the company have? What is the process for acquiring new ad assets to promote? What does the ad approval process look like? What do meetings look like? What is the company’s stance on work/life balance? Do you have an email list to leverage for paid ads?

Ask about their covid response. What did they do? How did it go? What are their plans moving forward?

I interviewed with an industrial company that was B2B focused for ppc. I asked thes questions and found out that 1. The switch to remote was rough with some “misunderstandings ” that turned ugly due to email being the sole form of communication where people were used to talking things out. The interviewer said people were being very “snippy” over email.
    2. The bosses were “old fashioned” and wanted to get everyone back in the office asap because they are the types that like to see people working.
    3. Even remote they had a business casual dress code.

I was into the job until I learned this billshit. No thank you.

Ask them what kind of managers or employers they think they are, and see what they say. Always catches them off guard and you get to see what they really think of themselves.

If they’re stumbling trying to figure out what to say, red flag

Main issue with bad agencies here in Belgium (and I guess everywhere) is that they squeeze out their employees, so watch out for that.

Another is the cowboys who take a high commission on adspend, are not transparant and don’t really know what they are doing. Avoid those too since you’ll learn much more at a place that cares for what they do

What PPC software do you use? [important]

Are you focused on ROAS? [sometimes this can be a bad thing]

Do you have a minimum ad spend?

What is your marketing stack in general? [ ‘What is that?’ is a red flag]

    Have fun

“What’s the biggest challenge the company is facing at the moment?”

“How would you describe a typical day in this role?”

“How do you describe the company culture?”

“Will there be snacks?” (Just kidding, but yeah)
