Hi everyone! I have a local car detailing service website and the homepage keeps outranking the city pages.

The home page ranks number 1 for car detailing service near me or car detailing city name (in our main city). I just launched 10 separate city pages trying to get the keyword car detailing city name in those citys and our homepage is being chosen as carnacle for those city keywords because it links to the service area pages. Its not ranking well either because it was set up for our main city.

I have talked to a lot of seos and they all give different advice on what to do. I was thinking to make the homepage content focused on the counties we are in and not say any citys so google will see and rank all of our city pages before the home page. Will that work? Any advice helps thank you!

One thing to add to google keeps removing and putting back on the homepage in the index for some reason. It has been removed from the index completely for about a day. I have never seen that happen before.

If your home page is already ranking #1 don’t change it. Just create pages for each counties you want to rank. I am assuming that those keywords for the counties has volume?

It may take some time for new pages to rank just work on it and it will eventually rank.

If you have only just launched them give Google some time to index them and figure where to place them. Building some strong links to each of them will help speed up the process. Are they just on a subpage, or sub folder then subpage?

I would say for too much detail (pardon the pun) on the homepage, the home page should be for the brand searches and everything arc out from that page top ranking location is your home location using your homepage.

Service areas should be a header menu by itself IMO and every service area I checked was dupe content which may well have been OK a month or so ago, but there have been changes on the rumour mill that these sort service area pages are getting hit where the only change in the content is the location.

All of your content has been over optimized on the home page.

Home page is using local business schema with just your Brandeston address on it and no services or areaServed locations and no schema on location or other pages.

Your service pages are thin as well, do you not love what you do? Surely, you could write 1000+ words on what you do interior exterior? And throw in some locations within the content?

If it were me trying to rank in just 8 locations? I would pull page from areas for now, thin out the home page content and go large on the services offered, adding location.

Option B long game would be to have a before and after page, people love this. If you have lots of this content already you just need to get writing lol

Full valet I did on a mustang in (location you want to rank for) Before images description of the job video if you have it and then after shots with a bill to how much it cost. People search for this kind of stuff, how much for a valet etc.

looks like the pages are too similar. the home page should be different from the city pages and the city pages should be different from each other. that said, if the city pages had backlinks you probably wouldn’t be having much trouble.

Edit: I just noticed your site is very weak in terms of authority. I’d focus on building backlinks before I’d worry about reworking content. As weak as it is there’s no telling what is working and what isn’t.
