  • Totalling up reach numbers across multiple platforms

Posted by SunsetRd on April 24, 2024 at 3:05 am

I run mutiple social platforms, FB, IG, TT.. they all perform differently in terms if reach with boosted posts during the month. At end of month if i added up the 3 x reach numbers generated from each platform, does that give me total "social" reach if my brand? Or does the 'duplication' argument come into this? Many thanks.

Adding all the reach from all platforms gives you the total reach on social yes. There might be duplicates, the same person looking at your content on two platforms, but there’s no way to tell how many. Even for one platform, some brand uses impressions as a metric, every time the content was seen regardless of if one persone seen it twice or more.

Depending on your goals, reach is a nice metric, but engagement rate and conversion might be better to quantify how well your brand or content performs when compared to your industry benchmarks.

I think you’re underestimating the duplication issue. People who follow you on multiple platforms are likely to see multiple posts, so adding up reach numbers isn’t accurate. Try using a unique identifier or tracking URL to get a more realistic total reach.

Thanks for the replies. Engagement score / conversion is yes far better ‘meaningful’ metric. I also will look at impressions. Thanks
