1. Diversify your strategy. A lot of people focus on one aspect of SEO (ex. link building), and neglect everything else. If you have a well-rounded strategy I’ve found that algorithm changes tend to impact less
2. Don’t ignore long-tail keywords. People are searching using long-tail keywords these days, especially with voice search. They also don’t tend to have high competition, making it easy to rank and get a lot of traffic since people searching in this way are looking for a specific answer.
3. Keep with it. Soooo many clients and even SEO professionals will stop or slow down once a site begins ranking. SEO is a long game, one that you can never really stop playing. Sites that are ranking need more attention almost than the ones that aren’t.
