Tiktok algorithm stops popular uploads from reaching pages after the 1 hour mark
I have been seeing a trend with my videos-
I posted a tiktok that gained some popularity, up to 10k towards the end of its life.
Since then, I have posted some flops, and a few okay ones, and some that started to blow up after only 10 minutes. However, every time I have the same experience.
The video will get up to 250 likes within an hour, steadily climbing along with comments saying “this needs more likes” and “here before this is viral” from total strangers, but as soon as it hits the 1 hour mark, without fail EVERY TIME the video will cease to get any traffic whatsoever.
I know this has something to do with the algorithm, but i just don’t know if my account is flagged, or someone at Tiktok is stopping my videos from gaining popularity, or if they automatically get removed from being in the for you page if it doesn’t hit a certain amount of likes within an hour.
If anyone knows how to get past this please let me know, and if you have experienced anything similar id love to know as well.

Its probably an approval thing. Videos that grow fast are checked by a mod to see if they are not growing because they’re a suicide vid or maybe a livestreamed shooting. Seemingly normal people share that stuff. I was watching a co-workers computer with others the afternoon the Christchurch shooting happened. I’m from nz btw. She’s a pretty upper class girl and she just shared the actual shooting video with all of her friends.
I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was so surreal. I was there watching someone with presumably a much better upbringing than mine watch this shooting with full attention like were just chilling there looking at a gore thread on 4chan. Except it was on facebook
… And she shared it…. My mind was proper blown that day.Edit: I really went off on a tangent there but yeah I’m sure its for approval reasons.
