Is it sensible to presume that there is a reasonable portion of Facebook users and social media users generally, who mainly use these platforms as a source of news?

And if yes, are people satisfied with the service? Meaning, the feeling a person had atleast once in a while after reading a newspaper of being informed of something useful. Do social media users get this feeling of finding something useful atleast once in a while, apart from being informed of current events (which was basically what newspapers tried to do back in the day) it was only possible to somewhat validate the content of the newspaper since it always told yesterday’s news.

Or has content made at this never before seen scale which basically is the news as of this minute, turned the experience of being informed into something which is amazing for people who actively look for good content (meaning actively curate their feeds , instead of relying on the algorithm) while the same experience is nauseating for people who don’t actively curate their feeds but rather mindlessly scroll through their algorithm curated feeds?
