    Hi all,

I’ve done some searching the last couple days about sitemap issues in google search console. I grabbed my sitemap links from Yoast SEO within WordPress, but I can’t get google to find anything. What am I doing wrong? Why is it not picking up my sitemap? Any tips/help would be appreciated!

Try a trailing slash in the URL when you submit in GSC.

Paste the url where your sitemap should be in your browser address bar. A sitemap is nothing but a xml text document. Your browser should display it. Is it there? Awesome. Now get that url and paste it into your search console.

Does the URL in question follow the structure sitename .com/sitemap.xml ?
^ WordPress sites almost always follow this exact format but with your site name.

It should definitely end in XML, and when you submit it to Google Search console, it should include the full address. including http:// (if its there) to .xml

Test the URL in the address bar in your browser. It should load what looks like a text file (not a regular page)

    Did Google fetch it before?

Can anyone help me understand why sitemap submission was successful, the “last read” date was yesterday, but google still hasn’t discovered any URLs?
