  • SEO steps around a rebranding and new name

I recently rebranded and changed the primary domain of my website. The old domain still routes to the same place and most of the pages and URLs have been left intact, but the website now has a different (albeit, similar) name.

What steps should I take to minimize the hit to my SEO rankings? And/or what steps should I take to maximize SEO for my new website out of the gate?

Is there some sort of 301 redirect I should do for the change in the primary domain, or will it be unaffected as long as the old primary domain still routes to the same place?

    Thanks!
