I see a lot of predictions from influential webmasters and now I have my own list of what SEOs believe in 2023. As a collective image of all thoughts.

    * Text blogging will cease to exist in its usual form. Big blogs will grow in mass, but it will be impossible for new blogs to compete unless they take a multi-content approach to deliver information. To grow your web resource from scratch, you will have to stock up on patience, a video camera and creativity. Google is paying more and more attention to video content, this is a truth that you just need to come to terms with. Pay attention to where the snippets with TikTok videos and YouTube shorts are located. There is simply nothing beyond the fifth position in the search results for the modern user.
    * Content will be key to page rankings. Tons of automatically generated text will not be able to produce results even in conjunction with quality links. Almost everyone is talking about it. You need a strong combination of quality organic content and relevant links to compete at the highest level. If a search engine sees a glut of raw AI content, then the page will receive a penalty point.
    * SE Ranking has expanded its platform with a content marketing tool, working on local marketing mechanics, and making very ambitious plans for 2023 to increase the functionality of tools. The platform establishes itself in the top segment of SEO tools for marketing agencies and does not increase the cost of main paid packages. It’s pretty interesting. I hope they continue like this.
    * Ahrefs will increase the cost of its services but introduce several new options. Users can choose the exact set of necessary functions and quantitative quotas as accurately as possible (credits). No matter how much the community buries Ahrefs, this tool remains the biggest and most influential in the SEO market. Quality backlink statistics and cross-platforming – it’s all about Ahrefs.

I partially agree with the opinion of the community, but I have some doubts about the rapid implementation of the AI content verification algorithm. This technology is developing really quickly, it is difficult to control it. I think that AI content will be influential for another 3-5 years. As for tools, SE Ranking and Ahrefs are my main platforms for working, so I try to keep updating myself. But I am pretty sure that other SEO tools will gain good results next year.

What do you think about this?

Links to these other takes? Also wonder if we could get a poll going to get the communities take.

I can see myself leaving Ahrefs in 2023. The crap is just too expensive for what I do. I’ve experienced the tools to be unresponsive far too often this year.

    So that’s what I’m predicting for 2023.

But, in all seriousness, everyone around me switched from Ahrefs to Semrush this year, and they’re all pleased so far.

Looks like a promo for SE Rank, whatever that garbage tool is…

And looking closer at your post history, you are constantly pitching it, never directly, but you weirdly mention it like it is on par with the big players.

In our opinion, content and backlinks will become more and more important.

Keyword research is the very foundation of your SEO, so make sure to do it justice.

The more time you spend looking for keywords, the more likely you are to find keywords that are easy to rank for AND drive quality traffic.

    1) If you think that text on the internet is dead, then I guess you haven’t used the internet, like ever. Text content (including blogging) is not going anywhere. Sure, you can rank video and even audio content, but there are still plenty of text results on the SERPs. TikTok is on the verge of being banned in their biggest market, so banking on TikTok for 2023 is ill-advised.

    2) Content being key for rankings is nothing new. Been that way for at least 13 years. Will be the same in 2023 and beyond. Also, the reason why text-based rankings are not going anywhere.

    3) Again, not sure how this is changing anything from an SEO perspective. Content marketing is not new. The only reason I can think of why you would mention this is because you are shilling for SE Ranking and this is an extremely poor attempt at content marketing. SE Ranking is garbage in terms of SEO tools in any case.

    4) This is very much an opinion. Personally, I prefer SEMRush. This is not really SEO prediction as much as a fanboy-ism.

AI in search is nothing new, and if anyone thinks that Google isn’t doing its own RAD regarding language AI, they are greatly uninformed. AI content generation will be a tool much like SEMRush or ahrefs, nice to have but not necessary to do SEO. Editing and fact-checking AI content is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what will be needed down the line to make AI-generated content work for SEO. One prediction that you can stake your career on is that getting AI-generated content to rank will get harder as time goes on.

Some great valid points, especially the AI part. I’ve always been against AI and a fan of NEW and REAL content. A machine doesn’t have a soul therefore CANT really FEEL or THINK. People need to use their brains more and use the “TOOLS” in conjunction IMHO

    Point 1:

No. Text based articles are not going anywhere. Yes, it’s more helpful to see a video if you want to learn how to change your car’s oil. But do you really want to have a video encyclopedia? No. You want a reference point you can easily turn to. Google knows this. Video is important – but it’s not everything.

    Point 2:

Also no. Too complex to get into small details but several of my clients use dynamically generated AI content as the key to rankings. Plus, what about tools? The weather? News? Most of those are already written by AI.

    Point 3:

Not familiar with the platform because I’m a Semrush user – but in that vein even the big players are only so helpful. Appreciate you turning me on to them, will check them out from a bizop perspective. Always good to see how players in this market operate.

The day that video replaces text online is the day I move to Montana in a mountain hut and start sewing my own clothing.

I’ll make you all a how to video.

The point of 2023 seo predictions is to create a new page and 301 the old 2022 seo predictions and 301 the old 2021…

It’s an opportunity for some new content.

The only 2023 seo prediction I care about is the safe/proper use of AI content with some real cases discussed.

    1) Text blogging without social media or video/audio podcasts is dead. Definitely.
    2) High-quality organic content + high-quality backlinks = best tactic. Definitely.
    3) Se ranking does something interesting… Yeah, every SEO tool does something interesting each year. Definitely
    4) Ahrefs does something terrible… Yeah, every SEO tool sometimes does something terrible.

My 2023 prediction – build a high-quality workflow, test new interesting SEO approaches, and keep Google News under your pillow. This way, you’ll get the best results.
