Seo noob questions -Backlinks
I am new to building websites and am trying to figure out the basics of back links. I understand what they are and why they are important but besides just asking other websites to link to your article or posting links in forums are there other ways to build even the most basic back links? I am wondering for the experienced site builders what they did for there first, second or third back links when they first got in the game? Did you buy them on fiver? Did you just ask hundreds of websites to consider you? If someone kind of enough to explain exactly what they did to get there first back links in detail I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks all!

Make sure the links are relevant, eg finance links from financial websites not from artist websites.
Yes you can out reach & most likely get ignored.
Reach out to your friends, or other websites that you have created.
Avoid link farms
Do a podcast / interview.
Advertise, it may help get the website known & if people like it they can word of mouth it blog about it thus natural backlinks .

If it’s a commercial site/page you’re trying to build links for, it would be extremely hard to get relevant and high-quality links without paying for them.
You’d rarely come across any worthy offers on Fiverr though. You find them the hard way (a lot of research). Or you can hire a professional agency to do it for you.

So if you created a website today for example how would you go about getting backlinks? Hire agency the only good option?
