SEO and confusion
Posted by priyankaro on November 29, 2023 at 5:35 amIt’s been 2 years I’ve been doing SEO. But now I feel like I know nothing, so scared. Could you help me How I can overcome this? And be confident about what I know.

GuestNovember 29, 2023 at 6:35 amYou just got to keep grinding away. As of 11/28 the November Core and Reviews Updates are still running. Nobody really knows what to tell anybody. You just got to do things and experiment and grind it out on a daily basis and see what you can get to make money.

GuestNovember 29, 2023 at 7:12 amIt’s normal. Things have been moving fast lately, by the time you think you know, something new’s out and you don’t know anymore.
As long as you know that you don’t know, it’s a good sign. Learn as you go, build experience and you’ll look back on things more confidently.
2 years isn’t enough time to know a lot, so work more, do more things, and you’ll start getting the bigger picture little by little.

GuestNovember 29, 2023 at 7:47 amhad been in the same situation before, here is my suggestion: set small, achievable goals to build confidence, and most importantly document your small successes, this will keep you motivated about what you have achieved so far (be it traffic, an increase in CTR, identification of new opportunities, a good ranking on hard keyword)

GuestNovember 29, 2023 at 8:03 amI feel like every single decent SEO marketeer will experience some level of imposter syndrome. You feel like you know nothing, but if you zoom out and circle back to 18 months ago and think about all the things you’ve learned since then…all of a sudden you realize it’s not so bad.

GuestNovember 29, 2023 at 8:05 amI just realized applying SEO when there’s an ongoing update is next to useless. Just continue writing quality content. That’s the best SEO in my 10+ year online writing experience.
Btw, Google’s November update ended yesterday (11/28/23). Well see some consistency then figure out what SEO strategy will work.

GuestNovember 29, 2023 at 8:39 amSet up a folder for documents covering 1. SEO topics 2. SEO processes 3. The updates to Google from December 2022
Then write up basic understanding of topics (an SEO roadmap can help here), along with a couple of recent insights on the topic.
Write up the tasks you know how to do using your SEO tools, if you’re struggling then try and add to this as you perform your day to day tasks.
Research what each of the recent updates from Google are and document them.
All of these should be worded in a way you can explain them to someone else.
This should give you the confidence that you do actually know a lot and highlight the areas you need to work on. Lately SEO feels like it’s leaning towards marrying keyword targeting with helpful content.
Good luck! -

GuestNovember 29, 2023 at 8:47 amYep. Completely agree. It’s way less predictable, far more variation even from day to day and some websites seem to scoop up keywords that make me scratch my head and wonder why.

GuestNovember 29, 2023 at 9:07 amWell if you are feeling this way, then your feelings are absolutely true. Because nobody can ever know everything about SEO. As SEO is a large pool of strategies which changes almost every day.
Nobody can ever know everything.
