Sensitive user data security – PPC job interview question

Posted by mcamill on October 24, 2023 at 4:00 am

Hi there. I’m interviewing at a FAANG company for a (mid management) PPC role available and was curious to know if anyone has experience with best practices or examples of dealing with user data securely in PPC (google and bing).

After getting some feedback about interview questions, this is certainly going to be an important topic. During my 4+ years of PPC experience I haven’t had any issues or concerns with personal user data and a therefore any concern for its safety/protection. Not that I am not concerned, just no direct uses case during my career.

Can anyone provide some tips or experiences with this to help with the interview if it gets brought up? Thanks

Where are you located? A helpful detail since Europe has GDPR and US data protection laws are more relaxed for example.

My main thought would be Enhanced Conversions and Customer Match lists or offline conversions. I guess you could read up on the hashing processes used and find out if they are accepted in the industry you’re in
