Re recent flurry of “Instagram engagement drop” posts
I know this seems to be a meme at this point, but it does seem to be that there is a larger than usual amount of users, including owners of big high engagement accounts with 10-100k+ followers, reporting a sudden steep drop in engagement over the last 1-2 weeks.
Myself I am just at around 2k followers but my engagement rate is usually high, in the 20s%, with 500 likes per post minimum and 500-600 views per story. For the last week I’m looking at 150-300 likes and 200-300 views per story.
This started for me after a week of huge growth so I figured it was the algorithm deciding to rotate me out of the sun into the shade for whatever reason for a while, then I checked online and see that lots of people are reporting the same thing specifically over the last few days. It seems that I am not being displayed to the large majority of my followers. I have tried a few boosts to see if this changes things but the same post I boosted 2 weeks ago and had insane results, is now getting double digit reach with the same budget/audience etc.
Any ideas what is going on? Does this kind of thing happened periodically? I am still relatively new to IG (5 months).

I’m around a similar area to yours (just hit 2k today). But my account has been popping off as of late. I do get where you’re coming from though my hashtags are getting way less reach than they used to and I do use three different sets of hashtags for my three daily posts with only one major hashtag being kept across all three posts.

There’s also been talk of people doing a mass ditch of Facebook and Instagram because of how bad their programs are being run as far as bots and spam goes. People are getting tired of it.

I have an account with over 250k followers and I definitely have noticed a drop in the past week or so. wasn’t sure if it was just me…

I have an account with 32K followers and engagement has dropped massively. The funny thing is though, that my competitors’ engagement is still high..

I honestly think they just want you to spend money on ads in hopes to get reach

I just finished a paid ad campaign and since then things have slowed down, moving from 1700 follows a month to about 800.
It did the same thing about 14 months ago after I had the steepest of climbs. No ad then though.

The same thing is happening to me I used to get 500-600 likes per post and now with the algorithm I barely reach 400 I hate the new Instagram. My interaction has gone down tremendously

So I’m having the same issue I have 2k followers and usually average 200 likes a post. Sometimes more but my Instagram engagement has dropped 80%
