Hey folks, have been managing socials for a SaaS brand for some months now. Current active platforms: Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Youtube.

Churning 2-3 content pieces everyday for the last 2 months. The engagement is below average and recently the reach is also going down.

    Am I posting a lot?

Should I be focusing a lot more on quality over quantity?

What is the best frequency that has worked for you folks?

Think about all the junk you ignore, everything you scroll past when you look at your own social media. It feels like it’s just in the way of your experience, right? So do your posts seem like they could be perceived that way, or are they something that would capture attention and make a person stop and think for a moment?

It’s hard to answer if you’re posting too much without seeing the posts. Are all 3 daily posts interesting, entertaining or inspiring? Do they bring value to your audiences time on social? It’s unlikely because that would take a great deal of resource and investment, and if the posts were great reach and engagement wouldn’t be dwindling.

The answer to “how often should I post?” is always – as often as you can post high-quality, engaging content that your audience will enjoy consuming and interacting with.

A note on each platform too. LinkedIn posts typically have a longer lifespan so you can afford to post less. Posting multiple times a day on LinkedIn usually results in you competing with yourself and cannibalising your own engagement.

Twitter is super fast paced so you can afford to be a little more active over there.

Instagram and Facebook sit somewhere in the middle.

TL;DR: focus on quality, not quantity. Only share when you’re sharing content that brings value to your audience (entertain, educate or inspire).

Please understand that there is no universal strategy for promoting an Instagram profile. For some profiles, the number of publications prevails over quality, for others, exactly the opposite. There are too many additional factors that can affect your publications: niche, activity of the target audience and similar profiles, geolocation, the presence and size of hashtags, profile type, etc.

If you think that 2-3 posts per day are negatively impacting your reach and engagement, try a different strategy. You can start posting several posts a week and compare the results of this strategy after a month or two. Only by testing a variety of strategy options will you be able to understand which one will work best for your specific case.
