So I’m a pro wrestler who just started. As a wrestler social media is a huge part of the job. I’m not sure where to start, luckily I have like over 500 followers on Insta and 800 on Twitter but the engagement isn’t there. Any tips on how to brand myself or boost my engagement?

Get verified on the platform so your fans know it’s you and then just be famous, they will engage.

Create shareable comment chains on Twitter like commentaries on classic matches or Raw, Smackdown, NXT, Dynamite or Dark segments but from a wrestler’s point of view. Stay in your lane though, don’t criticise but talk about the subtle things that the audience may have missed and what moves are hard to take etc.

You may love or hate him but Jim Does amazing breakdowns or wrestling, its psychology, why moves are done the way they are etc. You could do that but from a rookie’s perspective.

“Why AJ Styles is so great from a just starting out wrestler’s perspective 1/10

I find taking flat front bumps tricky cause it’s not natural to fall onto your front without protecting yourself. We’re taught to tuck our chins for back bumps and you see guys sometimes do that with the Styles Clash 2/10

Styles adjusted for it beautifully when James Elmsworth tucked his chin. Protecting your opponent is everything and after a few incidents in Japan, AJ has learned to watch his opponent’s positioning. 3/10

Adjusting mid-move like that is impressive to me. Etc etc”

Just give people an insight they wouldn’t normally have, retweet other wrestlers’ videos and network a bit to get your name out there.

Just don’t post any personal opinions on anything other than wrestling as that’s a quick way to get into trouble.

Like I said, never be negative about anyone as it’s easy to get blackballed.

    Good luck.

Hey there social media strategist/marketer here. I’ve worked with influencers with millions of followers. Your situation is a bit interesting, I am thinking most of your audience will be on twitter, I would put my focus there, I think Instagram is good to build after you have a solid foundation. To be honest, I think you would do amazing on tiktok and youtube shorts, you could easily explode their if you know what you’re doing. I am guessing you can curate and reach out to other wrestlers around you, talking smack might be the way to go and the only platform that might not shadow banned you for that is twitter. I can think of dozens of ways to make it work, if you have any questions feel free to DM me, I would love to help out in any way I can!

Indeed, today many of us are thinking about how to promote ourselves. But you have to think, is it not in vain!?

I’ll tell you, in vain. All these social networks are a thing of the past. We need to think about the future and the fact that in a couple of years only the blockchain and social networks on it will be relevant. Therefore, I advise you to get acquainted with Solcial, a secure web3 social network. There you will not have such problems!

    Talk to people.

It’s the simplest most overlooked strategy because it’s time intensive.

The more conversations you build, the more community you attract, the more noise you make.

Don’t worry about over branding right now. Stay authentic- bring people along for the journey

Your audience is on Twitter and IG. But mostly Twitter. Maybe TikTok but I haven’t seen many wrestler content there besides RebyHardy.

Twitter is hot during WWE and AEW shows so start engaging there.

Look at what other wrestlers are doing to promote themselves – Danhousen comes to mind. He pretty much built his whole career on social media and YouTube.

Don’t give away how the sausage is made or break kayfabe but do show some behind the scenes action. Make friends with the photographers and videographers at shows so you can get pictures and videos of your matched to show off on social media.

The biggest thing is be consistent, show up daily and engage with your fans.

A bit late ti the party. But all in on tik tok, high volume of posting different types of content. Repost winners on Stories / Shorts.

Treat engagement w real folks like it’s gold.

Engagement is always an issue for everyone. Do you mind sharing with me what you do to increase it? Or it was just uploading the images or videos only?
