Hi guys, I am doing some SEO for my small business. The only problem I have is that I keep writing in the passive tense. I find it very difficult to write in the active tense. IS this such a big problem because yoast seems to think it is 🙂

Nope. The style of writing doesn’t really count for much. Just what is said and how good the content is.

A wild guess, are you using Grammarly?

Active is better because you use less words. It’s more concise and easier to read. When writing passively you use at least one extra word per sentence. For example, Passive is “is used” active is “uses”.

Not sure how much Google care about this, but in general active reads easier and sentences are shorter. Plenty of free checkers online. Just google passive voice checker and copy and paste your text in. It will tell you which sentences are passive.

I thought the passive voice in Yoast was mostly for the readers benefit, not do much SEO.
