We have some landing pages that offer various content for free but users need to create an account first. All the other competitors in our niche offer the same content without the need to create an account first.

Significant negative impact on your SERP ranking. This barrier lead, users may quickly leave your site, frustrated by the signup requirement, especially if competitors offer similar content freely. The registration requirement interrupts the browsing flow and discourages backlinks from other sites.
