New To Google Ads – Question About Manual Bidding

Posted by seohelper on June 5, 2021 at 11:58 pm

I have selected manual bidding targeting the big 4 countries at $0.50/click. Up until now, I’ve spent about $10 and got about 20 clicks – most of them coming from the UK. Still no conversions (sales) though.

In the event that I’m getting clicks but no conversions, should I increase the bidding? Will I get more quality clicks that way?

Should I also narrow down to the UK? I assume that it means my bidding is insufficient for the other countries but that it works well only for UK? Since I’m getting no sales from it, though, I’m not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Your on the right track. Increase bids and allocate budget towards what works. However, don’t make major moves based on a small data sets.

In PPC you have to come to terms with the fact that you’ll “waste” money on new campaigns as you learn what works and what doesn’t.

If your hitting your budget limits for the different countries, then it might make sense to allocate more towards a single country so you can collect data quicker. Once you have that country in a good place in terms of profitability, then expand to other countries using what your learned from the first.

It sounds like you have all the countries in one campaign. If so, then I would split that up so you can better control budget.

Also, 20 clicks is nothing. You are still in what I call ‘the data buying stage’.

I would consider setting up conversions closer to the top of funnel and focus on them instead for now.

Aim for something like checkout visits, add to carts or even just 30+ second page views (use a time delay trigger in Google Tag Manager) and then make the bullseye smaller by honing in on events further down the funnel when you get more data to make statistically significant data driven decisions with them.

Bidding the same in 4 different countries means you’re probably bidding too much in some countries and too little in others.

Also, just want to remind you of changing your location targeting settings to Presence. In case your campaigns are still set to the default “Presence or interest”. This something I always see in new accounts I audit.
