Need Help Regarding SEO.
Hello Everyone, I have created this website for a event management company in Pune, India. They are actually looking for SEO of their website, Where I have taken their contract, Now the task is I can do the On page & Technical, But I have no idea whether I need to create backlinks or no, As far as I had word with my SEO Tech Friends They told me its only about creating content. No needed of backlinks.
So I need suggestions with with website, Give me bit guide guys.

You should ask your client for a few competitors/focus services they want to offer. Based on a competition gap audit you can determine if your website needs to prioritize backlinks/content creation. You may have also defined a scope of work in the contract so you need to work in line with your contract commitments.

See what type and volume of backlinks competitors of the company have.
Start there.

Honesty speaking and not wanting to sound rude but it sounds like your client did a big mistake hiring you for their SEO issues.. It sounds like you are not qualified honestly speaking.. No one is going to be even able to help you in the way you’d like to… Take it as a chance however. Educate yourself.. There other factors than backlinks and imo also more important ones.. (e.g socials)..

This should be written down (or verbalized) in the contract, like all the other things you agreed on. You did agree on what work should be done, right?

You definitely need at least a few backlinks

If they told you to only do on-page seo and Technical things, then do that. But all website for SEO needs backlink.
