Movers & Marketers: Is In-Depth Digital Strategy Overkill or Essential?

    Hi,

I have a question for owners or marketers from moving companies.

    **Short version:**

Do you see value in an “in-depth” digital marketing strategy and have you found success using it? Or do you find it overly complicated?

    **Long version:**

I’ve developed a marketing strategy for a client of a marketing agency, who happened to be a mover. By “marketing strategy,” I mean a thorough analysis of industry market reports, quantitative buyer persona research, and a manual review of the digital marketing efforts of several local competitors using tools like SEMRush and Buzzsumo. Based on this data, I provided specific actionable recommendations.

For instance, I suggested relevant keywords to target, identified the most used and effective backlinks (mostly listing-review sites), offered a strategy for obtaining more reviews through a small cashback incentive, proposed email marketing with content-based lead magnets, and recommended cross-selling partnerships with businesses (like insurance and mortgage companies) that are part of the mover’s customer research phase. All of this was supported primarily by quantitative data.

To cut a long story short, the agency I conducted the market research for ghosted me without even reviewing my findings. To better understand the digital marketing landscape for movers, I’m considering offering similar marketing analyses and strategies to other moving companies. However, based on my analysis, many movers in the CSRA area don’t seem to prioritize online marketing or put minimal effort into it. I’m uncertain if it’s a strategy they currently employ.

Is there a market for this, or does the moving industry lean more towards offline marketing or specific tactics that I might not have uncovered? Do they not require in-depth prior research and strategy to be effective, or do they recognize its value but in reality are just not accustomed to purchasing and using these kinds of services?

I’ll be really glad for any feedback, guys.

    Anyway, keep rocking!
