Mobile Management Partners & App Attribution

We’re working on using our iOS and Android apps more for acquisition, and wondering what you all do for tracking these, especially in light of the new iOS14.5 changes. Do you guys work with any mobile management partners? Do you have any to recommend?

It doesn’t seem like something we’d want to implement ourselves, but just got a quote from one of the companies in the space that seems to come up a lot and have a good rep, and it’s way more than we’ll be willing to pay.

I dont know who you spoke to, and it somewhat depends on category whether it’s worth it, but I do have a pov. Appsflyer is definitely the best solution I’ve worked with in terms of ease of use, reporting capabilities and support on implementation and ongoing questions. Having the raw data and ease to implement aggregated measurement is great. Theres some nuances between other MMPs, and various limitations, some UIs better than others – some configs are confusing and less customizable, but ultimately can get you reporting you need. While Firebase (Google Analytics 4) is free, you do get what you pay for. The issue is basic reporting needs that are unmet or made unnecessarily complex. Like most early Google products they havent figured the UI out yet. Wading through the help articles is painful and a moving target. Also, why does Firebase report Apple Search keywords? Why are there Facebook limitations? Why just those partners?

It really depends what you need, but one of the nice things is having a measurement partner with real skin in the game. I suspect by sheer will and number of developers Firebase will get better in a year, but for me it hasn’t gotten there – yet. If you dont have your monetization figured out, that may give you pause but how rigorous are you going to be looking at your data with probably affect which direction to go. However, I believe theres a variety of tiered options for most solutions.
