Meta description not sticking in Google
Hello, I was auditing SERP ranking change and one of my page that was ranked in top 5 for the keyword had irrational jump to rank 20-30
I mess around few days and sometimes when my own meta description is displayed it shoot back to 5 and then it shoot back to 20+ few days later. When I mess around again it goes back to 5 with my own meta description again, etc.
So the main issue for my SERP ranking seems to be caused by meta desc.
Any idea on how to make Google fixated on it? Idk why it’s not displaying the one that rank higher

Your meta description is not causing the ranking to change. Meta descriptions are not direct ranking factors.
Google will show whatever meta description it wants, no matter what you do.

I would almost assure you that your meta description has nothing to do with ranking.
Google can use your meta description yet sometimes it uses various excerpts, too.
If your page is jumping day to day from 5-20 and back, this might be the beginning of an overoptimization penalty.
