Stop emailing me asking for favors. Why would I take time out of my day to give you a backlink or two? You’re wasting your time. Here’s what I WILL respond to:

“Hey, I just stumbled upon your site and found 2 great blog posts! I linked to them from my site here and here, I hope the links help bring you some traffic! If you don’t mind, it would be super helpful if you could add a link to my post here, to your blog here. I think it fits organically and will add value to your readers.

    If not, no worries!”

Add value before asking for shit.

I blame Brian Dean for suggesting if you write a nice enough email to strangers they will link you.

I agree it’s incredibly annoying, don’t get these emails when your site is not ranking so well, as soon as your ranking well then starts the influx, trying to piggy bank their success on yours. One email said here’s to success of both our sites Increased rankings, seriously feck off lol

I think its unfair to blame marketers in general. I’ve never done this and almost every SEO’s and webstie owner I know IRL never have either. There are a lot of people selling me blog posts, guest posts, backlinks, white label services.

I classify these people as salespeople and business owners who think they have a right to your money and that’s their mindset, the same as Larry from Oracle and Joe from Chase Investments…

You know it’s an automated message that they send out to thousands to get a bite, right?

I would prefer if you just link to me rather than if we arrange any kind of reciprocal link relationship. I’ve just spent a few hours crafting unique, well-written and informative content for this website you make money from, according to the guidelines you wrote on your own website about the content you’d like to see from guest posts, and which has been written with your marketing strategy in mind as well as that of my client. Don’t pretend you’re not getting anything from this.

EVERYONE on line wants something. Give them the chance of what they want before you ask. Also – be a person! Introduce yourself, ‘shake hands’, say hi. We all have time to be civil and you are more succesful if you are a good person and show it.

I am even worse in this haha:

I am like. “Hey, I need a backlink from your site. I can pay 10$ – non negotiable.”

    But yours sounds better 😉

I think that such messages are aimed at quantity. “Someone out of 100 people must agree”. Or something like that. Try to just ignore it

99% those are not even marketers but giant Indian bot farmers working for some backlinks company.

No. Reciprocal links are worth less.

Are you special? Should I be asking for a hook-up? Lastly, who are you?

Don’t think you guys have much link building experience I am afraid. This is a bad version but it’s basically a prompt for how much ?£$ and if your smart you will have a separate website apart from your money site an offer a link exchange to the guy. Also you would be surprised with a better version of this how many people do actually put a link in. Method is old but still can work even if you convert 5% links a link. Method that converts for me more is focusing on my niche and I offer to write an article for the website and I can show my previous publishings in their niche as proof. Curious what are you doing for link building on your site ? Just buying off a vendor so there’s no outreach ?
