  • Lost my Featured Snippets due to site downtime. Can it recover?

Posted by seohelper on June 4, 2021 at 10:56 pm

My site went down several hours yesterday. It is up now but I lost all my featured snippets and been replaced by others. Has this happened to any of you, and were you able to get the snippets back?
    Thanks.

They’ll come back with time, if Google continues to believe they’re the best answers for people searching.

I think that if they made the cut once they will again. I’m actually surprised that google moved that fast on it.

This won’t help now but in the future, get a notification service. I use Manage WP for all my sites and get notified immediately if my a site goes down. It’s $1 per site per month or $25 for 100 sites. You can get notified by Email, SMS or Slack. There are probably other similar services out there or other ways to do this.

Check [websitepulse.com](https://www.websitepulse.com), they double-check before sending you down alert.

About your featured snippet, take a look at who got it and whether their page is better than yours. They may have optimized their content and the downtime of your website to be just a coincidence.

If their page is still worse than yours, you will get your featured snipped back.
