losing instagram engagement??
hi guys!! i’m not super active on this sub so i apologize if this isn’t the right place to say something. i feel like i’ve been losing a lot of engagement on my instagram for my online shop, despite constantly being active, posting stories, engaging with similar accounts/mutuals, using hashtags, etc. i really don’t know what else to do anymore and any advice for instagram specifically would be super super appreciated!!!!

This is a known problem for many, many people and it’s been posted about on Reddit ad nauseam. There’s no way to know exactly what’s happening, because Instagram won’t chime in – but I think one of the obvious things to arise is IG’s hard push in trying to get people to purchase ‘promoting’ your posts. It’s a pay to play platform now. You’re not doing anything wrong, especially if you’re not doing anything differently than you were before. Unfortunately, they simply cut you off, as well as everyone else who’s not paying for ads.

You are in the right place!
Your problem is very common the last year or two. Your next best bet would be to get some engagement bait going on, but do you really want to go there as it might not fit your brand… Most people just stop trying to do it for free and put a little money in there. Most important to ask yourself: what is it gaining me moneywise and how much money am I sinking in.

My coser friend struggles with this so much that almost every 3rd post she makes is about her engagement being bad or smth.
With ppl staying home a lot due to the corona, you’re supposed to be getting more engagement.
IG algo changes a lot, so maybe there’s something you’re doing that’s considered “slightly spammy” or smth
