  • Looking for a social media expert to guide me in promoting my business

I’ve been developing a prototype for my apparel product for almost 2 years and just recently placed a small bulk order of the finished product a couple of weeks ago. I expect the delivery to arrive in just a few weeks. I’m almost 50 and didn’t grow up using social media and using it feels very unnatural. I could really use the help of an expert to consult with on how to use online marketing to optimize my product’s exposure. Any recommendations on where to start? Thank you.

I work in social media, thats about what it costs. If you dont pay for ads and someone to help figure out who your reaching out to, and how to manage all of the data and analytics, then honestly dont ask. Im not trying to sound mean but thats the world were in.

I tried to help an old boss last year with her social. I did it as a curtsy because she helped me out so much. She refused to spend any money on anything. And guess what her reach didn’t get beyond maybe a couple of people. She is also in her 50s, and also cannot comprehend how it all works.

The old school way of marketing was the ol’ word of mouth. Well that has transformed into being online. So unless your willing to pay someone for their time (25-50$ hour), start to learn it yourself. Youtube is awesome.

If you want to grown social organically, look at your competitors and see what’s working for them on social. And have a very good understanding of your audience!

The only other tip I can provide is to not just be self-promotional with your social. People follow social media accounts because they provide value. And just promoting your stuff won’t provide any value to people who are just learning about your brand.

In general, organic social does not really drive sales any more. It has become very much pay for play. Establish a modest advertising budget and put it toward the platform where you audience is most active.

My uncle had a similar journey with his custom leather goods shop. Here’s what we did, we got onboard with AscendViral, a real nifty Instagram growth service. They helped us understand what content flies and what dies, plus gave insights into that scary sounding Instagram algorithm. With their help, the uncle’s insta-page is all lit now! And oh, influencers are a great way to get the word out. Have you thought about that?
