    Hi,

So I’ve been doing whitehat seo for around 4 years.

I am very competent at writing optimised content, keyword research blah blah blah.

But when it comes to backlinks I’m not sure where to go.

I typically outsource it for companies I’ve worked for.

I’d like a go-to service or process for getting backlinks.

My I have a site that’s new (Jan 2023) and is now beginning to grow getting about 900 clicks a month.

It’s picked up a couple of meh backlinks organically but I’d like to scale it now as I know the content is good and optimised well.

It’s a site for Padel (sport) and has a global market.

So I want sports blog links.

I’ve had a natural link from a carbon fibre manufacturer because they make the handles for certain rackets so that was nice (completely organic) but I want sports/more relevant links now.

Is it just a waiting game, or is there a service our someone I can outsource link building to?

I have like 3 jobs so don’t really have time / cba to manually outreach for links myself

But if that’s the answer then just lmk (I imagine it is)

I’m sorry you spent so much time as a white hat. If you’re willing to go a little grey, I can give you proper counseling lol.

But seriously, you lost me with sports blog links. I have a hard time jumping to the conclusion so many people have of “I need blog links” and the inverse of “I need to blog” as if that helps them rank.

Look, if everyone does their basic SEO properly, you’ll end up in a fight of link power. Don’t rely on a bunch of crappy blog links ????. Plenty of ways to beat this.

Before you even consider building links. You need to be ready for it. I mean you should be sure you have the following figured out:

    1. Good site structure:

    * Google is good at understanding known site structures. For example your blog should be at /blog, then you must have common pages like /about, /features, etc
    * 2. Fast, responsive and good user experience:
    * Site that is slow, have multiple pop-ups, dated are not what users want to be at.
    * This is going to affect your bounce rate and no amount of backlinks would be able to solve for that
    * 3. Quality content (Atleast 50 blogs)
    * Having thin content, is surely not going offer you many opportunities to trade links
    * So have atleast 50 odd quality content before even thinking about building links

If you have those, then there are quite a few Slack communities out there for link building. You may want to join them and start building relationships with other link builders. People are happy to have ABC link exchanges.

Once you have good relationships I bet it would be easy for you to build links. Scaling links is another discussion altogether.
