  • Large decrease in coverage on Google Search Console

Hi all! I run a fairly large ecommerce website with a little over 630,000 products and I have recently experienced a rather large drop off in indexed page coverage on Google Search Console. I’m really unsure what could have caused it and was wondering if any of you fine people could offer some insight on some of the probable causes. I’d really like to try to triage this as soon as possible. Thank you all in advance!

*Edit* I tried to post an imgur link to an image of the dropoff, but the post was automatically deleted. Sorry for no image.

Wild guess is that Google doesn’t like e-commerce sites.

PM me some screenshots of the coverage report and the website URL and I will take a quick look for you.

Just because your offer it doesn’t mean anyone needs it. If Google finds no one is searching for or finds a page of low value they’ll stop indexing it.

What are your visitor numbers like?
What is the level of activity like?
How much of your traffic comes from search engines rather than direct?
How long has the site been online?
