  • Is this affecting SEO to have two H1 Titles?

    Hello,

Do you know if having 2 H1 titles on one article is bad for SEO?

My web developper says it was originally to have one H1 display on desktop and one H1 for mobile. It sounds sketchy.

    Thank you!

It’s generally suggested that you only have 1 H1 on a page but Google themselves have said it doesn’t matter.

Generally SEO analytics tools will give you penalty marks if you have multiple H1. Will Google penalize you? I don’t know.

If you have two h1 tags that means your theme or framework has responsive limitations, or your developer does not know how to achieve layouts without hiding content between mobile and desktop screens. You might want to check, therefore, if there is any other duplicate content served anywhere else on the page.
